A funeral service was held for British celebrity Jade Goody earlier this month. Goody died on March 22, 2009 as a result of cervical cancer. She requested that a number of wreaths customized with certain phrases from her life be used at her memorial. The funeral wreaths included sayings like “East Angular” and “Minging,” both references to her appearance on Big Brother in 2002. Other funeral wreaths took on forms like a handbag, a high-heeled shoe, and a jar of Marmite.
The service was held at St. John the Baptist Church in Buckhurst Hill, Essex. Inside, the funeral was attended by 350 invited guests, but estimates say nearly 2,000 people watched on two electronic screens placed outside the church.
Goody had two small sons, Bobby, 5, and Freddie, 4. She was 27.
