Flower arrangement designs vary depending on where they are sent, who sends them, and the religion or service that they accompany.
Funeral Wreath
These are arrangements made of various flowers and branches formed into a circle to symbolize the continuation of life. The wreath can be displayed in a number of settings, the most common being on an easel at the memorial service or funeral. It is not uncommon, however, for wreaths to be placed on the outside doors of homes or businesses to acknowledge the death of a colleague or family member.
Floral Spray
These arrangements are designed for use at a funeral service or graveside burial. They are made to be mounted onto an easel and to be viewed from the side. These arrangements are most often used at funeral homes to frame the casket or viewing area.
Casket Spray
These arrangements are designed to sit on top of a casket. Many times they are designed with the flowers and colors loved by the deceased. These are usually purchased by the family.
Cross Flower Arrangement
Many families will purchase a cross flower arrangement which typically symbolizes religion, faith, hope, and love. These arrangements can be designed with a variety of different flowers and come in various sizes. They are typically displayed like a wreath or floral spray—on an easel and to the side.
Inside Arrangement
Families sometimes choose to include a nosegay (small bouquet) or small floral spray inside the casket.
Inside Adornments
Also placed inside the casket, floral adornments are most commonly found in the corners or along the border of the casket. Sometimes an arrangement of flowers is also used as a pillow.
